TSG spent last week in Atlanta for the annual Americas Partner Kickoff event. Alfresco has a great partner community and it is always a great time to catch up the folks at Alfresco and all of the other partners as well. This year, TSG was awarded the Alfresco Americas Top Growth Partner for 2013.

At TSG, much like other companies, we are in the middle of our fall college recruiting season. With campus interviews complete, we have recruits from six different schools coming in to visit our office over the next two weeks. TSG’s work with the New York Philharmonic Digital Archives was recently named 2012 Alfresco Implementation of the Year. We wanted to thank the team at the NY Philharmonic for giving TSG the opportunity to work with them and providing the vision of what the Digital Archives is today. The digital archives provides a perfect example of how open source technologies can be leveraged to create a robust and scalable enterprise solution. Using OpenMigrate for high volume content ingestion, OpenAnnotate for face tagging, Solr for faceted search, with Alfresco as the central repository make up the key architectural components driving its success. We look forward to continue working with the New York Philharmonic as they innovate and expand the digital archives.

We will focus on common functionality required for a controlled documentation system and how Alfresco can be leveraged as the platform to meet these needs. We’ll be showcasing our open source products, including HPI and OpenAnnotate, working from an Alfresco repository.

The New York Philharmonic will be hosting a Google Hangout tomorrow to discuss the new release of Digital Archives material from 1943-1970 (International Era). Scholars from around the world will be participating to discuss the content, and the historic tours from that time period under Leonard Bernstein.

Technology Services Group held the first Alfresco User Group Meeting last Thursday at out offices. Thanks to those that attended. It was great to see others in the Chicago area that are passionate and excited about the Alfresco platform and the possibilities it provides. The meeting provided a more casual way to interact with fellow Alfrescans, over pizza and beer of course! A special thanks to Jeff Potts for making the trip to help kick things off. Jeff provided a great overview of the Alfresco Community, including the recently announced site, http://addons.alfresco.com, which just came out of beta. Jeff also demoed various community-developed adding on the Alfresco 4 platform, including the JavaScript Console and Google Map integration. Look for TSG to add its open source Alfresco offerings to the site this week.
