TSG spent last week in Atlanta for the annual Americas Partner Kickoff event. Alfresco has a great partner community and it is always a great time to catch up the folks at Alfresco and all of the other partners as well. This year, TSG was awarded the Alfresco Americas Top Growth Partner for 2013.

We are excited to announce that TSG has been recognized a Platinum Alfresco partner!
Below is the official announcement:
Chicago, IL – January 17, 2013 – Technology Services Group (TSG), a leading provider of products and services that extend enterprise content management (ECM) platforms, today announced that Alfresco, the open source platform for content management, has granted it Platinum partner status.
This announcement came following TSG’s significant year of growth in sales and new Alfresco implementations. TSG has seen significant traction leveraging Alfresco and TSG solutions across pharmaceutical, utilities, retail, and non-profit organizations. Earlier this year, TSG was named Alfresco’s Partner Implementation of the Year in 2012 for their work with the New York Philharmonic Digital Archives.

While working with a couple of clients recently the question of how best to organize documents in their ECM systems came up. Both had started organizing documents by department but then realized for the long-term that organizing by document type worked better. While no one-way of organizing information may fit every ECM implementation this post will share a few guidelines and best practices that make the long-term management of information a bit easier. TSG’s work with the New York Philharmonic Digital Archives was recently named 2012 Alfresco Implementation of the Year. We wanted to thank the team at the NY Philharmonic for giving TSG the opportunity to work with them and providing the vision of what the Digital Archives is today. The digital archives provides a perfect example of how open source technologies can be leveraged to create a robust and scalable enterprise solution. Using OpenMigrate for high volume content ingestion, OpenAnnotate for face tagging, Solr for faceted search, with Alfresco as the central repository make up the key architectural components driving its success. We look forward to continue working with the New York Philharmonic as they innovate and expand the digital archives.

We will focus on common functionality required for a controlled documentation system and how Alfresco can be leveraged as the platform to meet these needs. We’ll be showcasing our open source products, including HPI and OpenAnnotate, working from an Alfresco repository.

While working on a 2012 roadmap and strategy for a client, I was asked “How do successful organizations deploy and manage ECM systems?” Since it’s a question worth some thought, I took the opportunity to conduct an informal survey of TSG account managers. What follows are observations about what we see working at clients when it comes to making ECM decisions and getting things done.

The New York Philharmonic will be hosting a Google Hangout tomorrow to discuss the new release of Digital Archives material from 1943-1970 (International Era).
